Content Description
A collection of mostly copies of materials related to the CCC activities in the region. Donated by Bill Johnson, the materials were probably collected while writing articles for the Shaw Journal issue “We Can Take It: The Civilian Conservation Corps in the Land of the Lakes”. Collection consists of: bibliography; biographies of enrollees, written by them: James Lafayette Holloway, William Bonenberger; papers: “The Civilian Conservation Corps on the Klamath National Forest: An Overview. 1980”; “Taylor Grazing Act in Oregon 1934-1984”; “Klamath National Forest and Siskiyou County: Fire Lookouts, Fire Guard Stations, researched and written by Lee Morford”; “Klamath National Forest and the CCC, revised and edited by Kathryn Winthrop. 1983”; camps: Bonanza, Medford District/ Ninth Corps Area, Hart Mountain, Klamath, Sheldon, Bly, and Tulelake (POW); newspaper clippings; folder: “Documents on CCC Fire Suppression activities of 1936-38”; Camp Newspapers; Camp Correspondence (copies from National Archives); and 2 booklets
