Collection consists of a box with materials related to the American Civil War of 1861-1865 collected by Laurence L. Shaw. Collection includes: a letter from Confederate Major General Daniel Harvey Hill to General James Longstreet, Goldsboro, N.C., 9 pm. March 17th 1863; a typed copy of the letter; a copy of L. Shaw's letter to William C. Davis, Editor of the "Civil War Times Illustrated" of July 18, 1972, accompanying the copy of the D.H. Hill letter; and a typed reply of Mr. Davis to L.Shaw of July 28, 1972. Also included: 3 maps of the Battlefield of Gettysburg: July 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 1863, created 1876, new edition 1912. Copy of the Civil War Tour Map taken from an unknown magazine; and a copy of a lineage chart for Robert Edward Lee.
