Both papers eventually fell under the same ownership. Because of wartime newsprint rationing, the papers were merged in 1942, forming the Herald and News.
The White Pelican Hotel opened in December of 1911 on Main Street, downtown Klamath Falls, Oregon. It burned down in October 1926. The site became the location of the Balsiger Building, which was demolished in 2016.
