Biographical / Historical
Excerpts from publications in this scrapbook were compiled by Laurence L. Shaw for the J→ Jones Ranch at Paisley, Oregon. The excerpts and maps from published journals and diaries portray the historical explorations in the Paisley area. Paisley is a small city located in Lake County. Jones Ranch is a large cattle ranching property near Paisley. The sources used: “Fur Brigade to the Bonaventura” by John Work, “Capt. Fremont’s Narrative” by Charles Fremont, “Journals of the First White Men to See Paisley – Chewaukan Country” by Fremont, “Gen. Crook’s Campaign” by Joe Wasson from “Modoc Co. Quarterly”, and a page from the menu of the Homestead restaurant in Paisley with description of the history of the area.
