Abstract
Malin is a town in Southern Oregon, established in 1909 by immigrants from Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. It is famous for its farming, and especially, production of potatoes. Collection consists of a black and white photograph of an unidentified man packaging U.S. No 1 potatoes in a plant in Malin, Oregon.

Biographical / Historical
Malin is a town in Southern Oregon, established in 1909. Its first settlers, immigrants from Bohemia, Czechoslovakia, named the new town after a farming community in their homeland. Farming remains the most common occupation in Malin. Introduction of potatoes during the first years of settlement made the most lasting impact on the local economy. The booming potato industry attracted local farmers as well as farmers from across the country to the Malin area.
