Biographical / Historical
The Pokegama Plateau, elevation about 4,000 feet, is a privately owned land in the Southern Oregon Cascade Range, between Klamath Falls and Ashland. The “Pedaling Through the Past” event was a mountain bike tour through the Pokegama Plateau region. It took place in October 2001. The bikers had an opportunity to see what was left of the area, densely inhabited during the height of the railroad logging industry. A few historical sites related to the temporary homesteads still remain.
