Biographical / Historical

A Coehorn was a lightweight portable mortar cannon, originally designed in 1674 by the Dutch military engineer Menno van Coehoorn. The cannon was transported by holding the handles attached to its wooden base. In the U.S. the cannon was used during the Civil War. It was in use till the mid-nineteenth century.
