Abstract
George C. Flitcraft, Klamath Falls mayor (1974 – 1992), was born in 1919 in California. Collection contains a folder with 23 family photographs and newspaper clippings. Also included is the Flitcraft Family Tree from 1800s to the early 1900s.

Biographical / Historical
George C. Flitcraft, Klamath Falls mayor (1974 – 1992), was born in 1919 in California. His family moved to Klamath Falls when he was 5 years old. In 1937 George Flitcraft graduated from Klamath Union High School, where he was the president of his freshman class and the student body president. He attended Oregon State University before joining the Army Air Corps as a meteorologist. In 1941 he married Marijane Daggett. George Flitcraft served in World War II and was discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1945. From 1957 to 1962 George Flitcraft was a member of a Klamath Falls City school board. During this time he also owned and operated a charter aircraft service in Klamath Falls. From 1961 to 1968 George Flitcraft served in the Oregon House of Representatives, and in 1970 he became a Chairman of the Klamath County Board of Commissioners. He was named the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce First Citizen in 1992. He passed away in Klamath Falls in 2003.
