Content Description
A folder with 14 photographs of the War Relocation Authority camp from a variety of time periods and scenes. The date range is from 1943 to 1944. Also included is a photo of what remains of the site in 1984. Every photo has a caption typed in the verso, provided by Mr. Turner. The photographs are accompanied by a letter from Mr. Turner to Mr. Leonard Freiser, Director of LRC, Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls, dated October 4, 1987. The letter was sent from Eugene, Oregon.

Biographical / Historical
In 1942, shortly after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 with the intention of preventing espionage. The result was forced relocation and incarceration of 110,000 to 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry in the western part of the country. Sixty-two percent of the internees were United States citizens. Internment camps were created in Washington, Oregon and California.
