Abstract

Oregon Institute of Technology or Oregon Tech is a public polytechnic university in Oregon with campuses located in Klamath Falls, Wilsonville, Salem and Seattle. This collection contains University Historical Manuscripts, Artifact and Merobilia, Anniversay collections, campus newslettersand maps, a small collection from the earthquake of 1993, a large photographic print and digital collection, mixed media, and scrapbooks, donated by various departments, alumni, faculty and staff.

Biographical / Historical

Oregon Institute of Technology or Oregon Tech is a public polytechnic university in Oregon. Locations include Klamath Falls, Wilsonville, Salem and Seattle. The institute was founded in 1947 in Klamath Falls, Oregon, as the Oregon Vocational School (OVS) under the leadership of its first Director and later President, Winston Purvine. The school changed its name in 1948 to Oregon Technical Institute (OTI) and in 1973 to its current name. Oregon Tech provides degree programs in engineering, health sciences, management, communication, psychology and applied sciences. Almost all students complete externships, co-ops, or other hands-on training inside and outside the classroom.
