The Faculty Wives' and Women's Club was founded on February 16, 1948 and continued for several decades. Its purpose was "a social and service organization". The first social event was held on April 16 and was a benefit card party seeking to raise funds to equip the children's playground in the center of the OVS campus. The club also sponsored potlucks, coffee and pastries at high school visitation days, and the first sweetheart party on February 14, 1950. The club was joined by the TechMates Club, which consisted of the students' wives. All these clubs were very actives on campus, holding events and raising money. The Faculty Wives' Club was led by President Winston Purvine's wife, Mrs. Veta Purvine. One of the long-held tradition of that club was holding graduation tea ceremony for the women graduates
