Johnston's research material (documents, images and maps) related to the activities of California rancher and businessman Jesse Douglas Carr (1814-1903), especially those associated with Carr's ranching activities in the California-Oregon border area, as well as Johnston's correspondence, article manuscript drafts and presentations related to his research on Jesse D. Carr and pioneer Jesse Applegate.
