Abstract
Christopher “Kit” Carson (1809 - 1868) was a well-known frontiersman, mountain man, wilderness guide, Indian agent, and U.S. Army officer. In May of 1846, Carson led an assault on a Klamath village on the shores of Klamath Lake. This became known as the Klamath Lake massacre. Collection contains a folder compiled by Laurence L. Shaw with photostat copies of letters and an interview with Kit Carson on the massacre of members of the Frémont Expedition in 1846.
