The Modoc Lumber Company was formed in 1918 by J. O. Goldthwaite. It operated in a company town called Pine Ridge, located on the Klamath Indian Reservation about 2 miles from Chiloquin. It was eventually renamed the Forest Lumber Company. Collection contains a sepia photograph from Harry Mesner collection: a Forest Lumber Company train carrying logs.

Historically, timber formed the basis of Klamath County’s economy and still holds historical significance to the community. Collection contains brochures and clippings on Klamath County lumber industry, donated by Bill Johnson.

Book Gilchrist: Six Generations in the Forest Industry is about a private lumber town in northern Klamath County. Collection contains book written by Jim Fisher, donated and signed by him.

Kenneth A. Burkholder was a district forester employed by the United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the Bend District of Region 1 in Oregon. Collection contains Bill Johnson's interview of Ken Burkholder.

Francis S. “Van” Landrum was a businessman and self-taught structural engineer/land surveyor in Klamath Falls, Oregon, as well as a noted amateur historian and author. Collection contains an envelope with a short note about Bristle Cone Pine and needles, wrapped in a napkin.

Merle Scott West was a local lumberman, and an active member of the community. The local hospital was named after him in appreciation of his contributions. Collection contains a self-bound typed interview of Mr. Merle S. West by Alfred (Cap) Collier, also a lumberman

Janis Kafton was a Klamath County educator and amateur historian. Laurence L. Shaw was a well-known Oregon timber man and philanthropist. Collection contains miscellaneous materials owned by or sent to: Laurence Shaw, Van Landrum and Janis Kafton.

Modoc Lumber Company in Klamath Falls, Oregon, was a privately owned business, started by Laurence L. Shaw in 1945. The Company stayed in business until 1995, being the last mill on the shore of the Ewauna Lake. Collection contains books, maps, folders with documents, and other materials, related to the operations of the Company and creation of the Shaw Historical Library at Oregon Tech by Laurence Shaw.

The Collier Memorial State Park/Logging Museum is located in southern Oregon. It was established in 1945 by the brothers Andrew and Alfred D. Collier as a memorial to their parents. Collection contains a drawing of the Proposed Development Plan for Collier Memorial State Park from 1988.

Robert W. Mezger was born on December 8, 1922 in Jersey City, New Jersey. After becoming a forester for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Robert Mezger took a position with the Klamath Indian Reservation in 1952.
